Super Over Rules in IPL - 

A Super Over also called an Eliminator or a one-over-per-side eliminator, is a tie-breaking method used in limited-overs cricket matches. The Super Over is a reduced version of the match that consists only of one over (six balls) and two wickets for each team.


The Super Over was first used in 2008 in Twenty20 cricket, replacing the bowl-out method that was previously used for breaking a tie. The Super Over is primarily used in Twenty20 cricket.

What is super over rule in cricket? Also known as one over eleminator, this rule is used when two teams finish at same score in a Twenty20 match. yes, only in Twenty20 or T20 (20 over/side cricket) matches.. not in one day internationals (50 overs/side cricket) and Test Cricket (5 day cricket).

Here are the basics of a super over, used to determine the outcome of a tied match:

The super over starts approximately five minutes after the regular time of the match is completed.

• Three batsmen and one bowler for each team

• Umpires select which end to bowl – teams bowl from same end

• Fielding restrictions are the same as last over of match

• Team batting second in regular match bats first in super over

• Loss of two wickets ends super over innings for a team

• Team scoring most runs in super over is the winner

• If super over score is tied, the team with the most sixes in regular match and super over is winner

• If this number is the same, the team with most boundaries is winner
